Technology Critique
Identify ~ 5 criteria which should be used to evaluate the efficacy of a given technology in terms of its value to the learners and the teacher. Think of digital technologies you utilize frequently. What is it about these technologies that allow for their frequent use? What about other technologies which you rarely use, but which might be celebrated, otherwise. What do you suppose makes some technologies have or do not have that makes them expire over time?
Define and provide rationale for the criteria you have chosen.
Create a scale which will be used to evaluate the efficacy of the technologies we explore in this class.
Begin evaluating the technologies we explore in this class.

Revise learning space project plan which was prepared during week 3. The learning space project is an interactive online resource for students, parents, or teachers that you create using the tools you have learned in this class. The learning space is designed to address the challenge of effectively integrating content with pedagogy and technology to
create engaging learning environments. There are many interpretations of this assignment and, most importantly, this assignment must be supportive and reflective of yur professional learning context. Discussion
Identify three themes in the readings for this week and apply these themes to this week's assignment. Consider that you should have support for the arguments made. For example, you can provide examples from personal experience, as well as examples from the texts or experiences of others.
Select a video game (Mac or PC) which the students that you teach might play (for a list of games see www.gamesparentsteachers.com;//http://gamessimslearning.blogspot.com///). Play it, win it, share it! Speculate on the potential learning involved and how it could/should be used in the classroom. Use (Rice 2007) evaluation rubric to assess the higher-order thinking involved in playing the game. Consult (2009) to make recommendations about how the game might be aligned to national standards. Take advantage of free downloads, or you can obtain “used” games for reasonable price. Post your critique to your student wikispace. In doing so, please utilize the template provided by your instructor for your post. You will make a short (5-10 minute) presentation regarding your outcomes and experiences. Since this is an online course, you will need to present to someone who is likely not in the class. You can present to a friend, relative, peer, etc… The goal is for you to share what you have discovered. You will also prepare a 1 page or less write-up of your critique. You can submit this via email to kpyatt@ewu.edu.
